Coin Manufacturer
This position is a Coin Manufacturer located in the Office of Production, Production Branch, Coining and Numismatics Divisions of the Philadelphia Mint. This description describes duties and responsibilities for a variety of processes used in the making of circulated coins.
Duties:
The following are the duties of this position at the WG-10. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Having knowledge, skill, and ability to disassemble, repair, rebuild, modify, and adjust or manufacture component parts for automated feed systems, mills, clutch assemblies, feed conveyors, sensors and actuators (electronic and hydraulic), adjust safety devices including door interlocks as necessary using hand tools, grinders, drill presses and other shop tools as necessary.
- Be able to diagnose malfunctions due to various possible causes and perform repairs.
- Responsible for set-up, maintenance, and repair of upsetting mills and edge lettering mills.

Qualifications

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.

Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis.

May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.

Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
